FRED PELPHREY
1902-1977
Fred Pelphrey, 75, died Thursday, October 6, in Highland Regional Medical
Center.
Mr. Pelphrey was born February 14, 1902, in Johnson County, the son of Amos
and Laura Sturgill Pelphrey.
He was a resident of Staffordsville and a member of the Third Street Freewill
Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Fairchild Pelphrey; three sons, Jack C.
Pelphrey of Fairborn, OH, Fred Carol Pelphrey of Columbus and Eddie Harold
Pelphrey of Barnetts Creek; 4 daughters, Betty Jackson of Ramona, CA, Jo Ann
Estep and Mary Camp of Fairborn, OH and Nola VanHoose of Paintsville; 2
brothers, Brooks Pelphrey of Manila and Bert Pelphrey of Ypsilanti, MI; 2
half brothers, George Blanton of Macon, GA, and Leck Blanton of Wheelersburg,
OH; 2 sisters, Mrs. Donnie Tackett and Mrs. Grace Dunlap, both of
Staffordsville; 14 grandchildren ; 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October in the Third Street Freewill
Baptist Church in Paintsville with Reverends Lowell Webb and James Kelly
Caudill officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Paintsville
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
