KENT PHELPS
1897-1985
Kent Phelps, 87, died January 26 1985, in Riverview Manor
Nursing Home in Prestonsburg following an extended illness.
Mr. Phelps was born November 10, 1897, in Johnson County, the
son of Thomas and Trina Webb Phelps.
He was a resident of Van Lear, a retired miner and a member of
the Church of Christ.
His wife, Edna Phelps preceded him in death September 25, 1934.
Surviving are four sons, Bill R. Phelps of Hager Hill, Thomas
Ray Phelps of Phoenix, AZ, Eugene Phelps of Deltona, Fl. and
Paul B. Phleps of Lexington; four sisters, Mrs. Earl W. Conley
of Lexington, Mrs. Betty Ramey of Sierra Vista, AZ, Mrs. John
Spodnik of West Field Center, Ohio, and Mrs. Patsy Smith of
Florence; two brothers, John Phelps of Paintsville and Bruce
Phelps of Van Lear and a sister, Frankie Short of Van Lear.
Funeral services will be held today, at 11 a.m. in Jones-
Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Dave Flanery officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
