JAMES I. RAMEY
1928-2006
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston
Funeral Home Chapel for James I. Ramey, 77, of Flat Gap, Ky., who passed
away Tuesday, June 6 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville,
Ky.
Mr. Ramey was born June 11, 1928 in Floyd County, Ky., son of the late Rev.
Russell and Virgie McKenzie Ramey. He was a carpenter, a U.S. Army World War
II veteran, and a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge.
He was also preceded in death by one son, James Ramey II, and three
brothers, Johnny, Russell Jr., and Melvin Ramey. Surviving are one daughter,
Jamie Curtis of Flat Gap, Ky.; one brother, David Ramey of Flat Gap; two
sisters, Mary Slone of Salyersville and Hazel Hartge of Shelby, Ohio; and
three grandchildren, Stacy, Kristen and Cindy Curtis.
The service was officiated by Toby Wheeler, with burial following in the
Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky., and a military graveside
service provided by the Big Sandy DAV Chapter 18, Auxier.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of
Paintsville, Ky.
