MARVIN B. ROBERTS
1902-1963
Marvin B. Roberts, 60, well-known resident better known as
“Beardy” died at his home at Collista, Sunday, March 3, from the
effects of a stroke suffered five weeks ago.
A lifelong resident of this county, he was born at Staffordsville,
July 24, 1902, the son of the late Hiram and Tallie Stafford
Roberts.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and operated a taxicab
in this city for many years. A son, Marvin Leslie Roberts,
preceded him in death February 26.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Caudill Roberts; a son, Ed
Roberts, Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil Humphrey,
Birmingham, Ala; a brother, Judge Roberts of his city; three
sisters, Mrs. James H. Trimble, Mrs. Walter Kennard and Mrs. Harry
Johnson all of this city.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday at the Fraley
and Hebert Arms as officiating ministers.
Pallbearers were Don Daniel, Walter Kennard, Jr., Bill Kennard,
Dwight Johnson, James E. Roberts, Jess Roberts, Chalmer Blevins,
and Clarence Melvin, Jr.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
