JAMES E. ROWLAND
1920-1973

James E. Rowland, 53, of Meally, died Thursday, August 2,
1973 at his home following a brief illness.

Born February 8, 1920, he was born of the late H. A. and
Louisa Pennington Rowland and was a military service
veteran serving in World War ll.

Survivors include a son, James Douglas, of Wellington,
Ohio, and a daughter, Phyllis Napier of Sitka.

Additional survivors include six sisters, Mrs. Magalene
Cantrell, Mrs. Ola Kestner and Mrs. Margaret Rowland of
Paintsville, Mrs. Verna Slayers of Sitka, Mrs. Beatrice
Jean Melvin of Walbash, Indiana and Mrs. Billie Jean
Fraley of Ohio, Michigan, two brothers, Creval and
William R., both of Paintsville and seven grandchildren.

Services were conducted in the CHapel of the Jones-
Preston Funerla Home on Saturday, August 4, 1973 with
Reverends Lee Music and Charles Stapleton officiating.

Chapter 18 of the Disabled American Veterans conducted
graveside rites at Highland Memorial Park.

Arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Preston
Funeral Home.
