WALTER WATHEN SAMMONS
1938-2005
Funeral services were held Friday, April 1, 2005 11 a.m. at the Van
Lear Church of Christ for Walter Wathen Sammons, 66, of Van Lear,
Ky., who passed away Sunday, March 27 at his residence.
Mr. Sammons was born August 4, 1938 in Johnson County, Ky., son of
the late Floyd and Myrtle Williams Sammons.
He was a retired fireman and a veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Doug Sammons of Houston, Texas, and David
Sammons of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Phyllis Grimm of
Flemingsburg, Ky.; one aunt, Imogene Sammons of Van Lear, Ky.; two
grandsons, Christopher David and Nicholas Robert Sammons, both of
Salt Lake City, Utah.
The service was officiated by Joe Hill, with burial in the Highland
Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.
