Friday, July 11, Edward Short passed away at a local hospital at the age of
77. Mr. Short was born in Johnson County February 8, 1898, the son of the
late Fred and Louise Akers Short.
 
He was a retired Armco employee from the plant protection department and was
a member of the First Christian Church.
 
He leaves his wife, Pearl Wells Short, two daughters, Mrs. William Blackburn
of Cincinnati, OH and Mrs. John H. V. Larch of Camp Springs, MD; also seven
grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Webb of Paintsville, Mrs. Rosa Music
of Van Lear, Mrs. Carl Powers of Meally and Mrs. Clara Lewis of Baltimore,
MD; and two brothers, Lester and Bill Short, both of Meally.
 
Funeral services were held at the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Sunday, July 6. Reverend Sam Glenn was the officiating minister.
 
Burial was at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville under the
arrangement and direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
