WALTER SPRADLIN
1879-1971
Funeral services were held January 31 for Walter Spradlin, 91, who died
three days earlier in St. Mary's Hospital near Huntington.
The Paintsville resident was the retired manager of the hardware department
at F. S. VanHoose Lumber Company. He had been a member of the First Baptist
Church for over 50 years, and had served as deacon of the church for many
years.
Born in Morgan County to the late Squire John M. and Joanna Easterling
Spradlin, he was the husband of Emma Daniel Spradlin, who preceded him in
death in 1946.
Since that time he had made his home in Paintsville with his daughter, Irene
Cole. Also surviving, in addition to his daughter, are a niece, Mrs. Marie
Sherman Daugherty of Catlettsburg, and two nephews, George McCausland of Pt.
Pleasant, W. Va., and Andrew McCausland of Houston Texas. A sister-in-law,
Mrs. Ora Daniel Kinstler, resides in Louisa. The funeral was held in the
First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Milam officiating.
Interment was in the Wells Cemetery at Paintsville, under the direction of
the Jones- Preston Funeral Home.
Escom Chandler, Charlie Newsome, Paul Porter, Luther Safriet, Green Conn and
Tom R. King assisted as pallbearers.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Charlie Walters, Joe Conley, Glenn
Powell, Harry Thomas, Raymond King and Robert Gunning.
