JACK TRIMBLE
The death toll on Johnson County roads climbed to five Saturday Night
Oct.15 1960 when Jack Trimble, 26, Oil Springs resident, was killed
on U.S. 460 about seven miles west of Paintsville. Trimble was killed
when his 1953 Ford side-swiped a cattle truck and careened into a
tree.
The accident occurred about 7:45 p.m. according to a report by State
Trooper Jack Music. Trimble was traveling East from Payne's Drive-In
in Oil Springs toward Paintsville when he hit the cattle truck, which
was being driven by Bernard Salyer, 22. The Trimble car was a total
wreck. Doctors said death was caused by a fractured skull.
Trimble is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Pierce Trimble, Oil
Springs, and one sister, Buretta Trimble, also of Oil Springs. A
plasterer by occupation, he was a life long native of Oil Springs.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Caudill
Fork United Baptist Church, with Rev. Lonza Reed and Rev. Euell
Baldwin officiating.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.
Pallbearers were, George Helton, Millard Vance, Rusty Yates, Bobby
Jack Kelsey, P.W. Bradley, John Bill Lemaster, all cousins of the
deceased.
