CHARLES W. VANHOOSE

Rites were held here Friday for Charles W. VanHoose, 67, well known
retired local businessman who died August 3 1966, in a local hospital
after a long illness.

A lifelong resident of Johnson County, Mr. VanHoose was born
September 11,.1898. He was the son of the late Bascom and Julia
Helton VanHoose, and was residing at 265 Washington Avenue at the
time of his death.

An active Mason, he was Past Master of Paintsville Lodge 381 F & AM,
131 R. A. M., 98 Knight Templar, El Hasa Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Lula Patrick VanHoose, a daughter, Mrs.
Oran C. Teater, a grand- daughter, Diana Teater, three brothers and
three sisters. Included are Leslie VanHoose, Paintsville; Burns
VanHoose Thealka; Arthur Vanhoose, Estil; Mrs. Beulah VanHoose,
Nippa; Mrs. Nell Preston, Paintsville; and Mrs. Zelta Bailey,
Ashland.

Services were held August 5 at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home, with
Charles Saunders and Claude Preston officiating.

Burial followed at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville; with
graveside rites by the Paintsvllle Loge 381.

Active pallbearers were Glen Walke, Dr. Joe Conley, David S. Jones,
C. C. Williams, Ted Adams, Orville Umberger, A. P. Mason and Dr. R.
M. Wilhite, Jr. Honary pallbearers include R. C. Lyon, William A.
Stapleton, ,E. B. Miller, James Mason, Marvin Atkinson C. V.
Sturgill, David Conley, James Pratt, Russell Williamson, George
Ramey, Chester Short, Walter Brugh and Angus VanHoose.
