Claude VanHoose, 81, died Saturday, May 6, at Highlands Regional Medical
Center at Prestonsburg after an extended illness.
 
Mr. VanHoose was born September 29, 1896, in Johnson County, the son of
Charlie B. and Sarah Castle VanHoose.
 
He was a resident of Stambaugh, a retired civil service employee for Wright
Patterson Field at Dayton, OH, and a retired school teacher for the Johnson
County School system and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife,
Florence Stambaugh VanHoose whom he married April 3, 1926; a son, Wilbur D.
VanHoose of Dayton, OH; a daughter Mrs. Charles Minton of Fairborn, OH; 2
sisters, Mrs. Chattie Estes of Troy, OH and Mrs. Eula Stambaugh of Nippa; 4
grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, I the Mouth of Rush Freewill
Baptist Church at Nippa with Reverends James K. Caudill and LIfis VanHoose
officiating.
 
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park with Paintsville Funeral Home handling
arrangements.
  
Military graveside services were conducted by D.A.V. Chapter 18
