JAMES ALBERT VANHOOSE
1926-2011

James Albert VanHoose, 85, of Sitka, died Friday, April 29, at his
residence.
Born Jan. 10, 1926, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Roby
VanHoose and Mae Salyer VanHoose. He was a coal miner and a member of the
Sitka Freewill Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jewell Adams; a
daughter, Rose Mary Varellia; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include four sons, James Roger VanHoose and Danny Gene VanHoose,
all of Ohio, Roby Allen VanHoose and Albert Franklin VanHoose, both of
Sitka; three daughters, Sharon Kay Cox of North Carolina, Cathy Ann Mollett
and Rita Mae Osborne, both of Sitka; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-
grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday, May 2, at Sitka Freewill Baptist Church, with
Jimmy McKenzie and Daniel Castle officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
