JAMES E. VANHOOSE
1929-1992
Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for James E.
VanHoose, 62, who died Sunday, October 4 in St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Lexington.
Mr. VanHoose was born November 23, 1929 in Johnson County, the son of Kennis
and Ida Rice VanHoose.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and was a medical doctor during the
Korean War.
He held a doctor of medicine degree and an A. B. degree and was a member of
the Kentucky Medical Association and Southern Medical Association. He was
affiliated with Dr. Potter in Wheelwright and Lackey, KY.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lora Mae Williams, in 1967.
Surviving are his mother; his wife, Sandra Wood VanHoose; six sons, Gregory,
James, Kent and Richard, all of Lexington, and Bryan and Steve VanHoose,
both of Paintsville; one daughter, Kyra Sgrignoli of Enola, PA; one brother,
K. Douglas VanHoose of Paintsville; two sisters, Faye Castle and Wava
LeMaster, both of Paintsville; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 6 in Paintsville Funeral Home
Chapel with W. T. Womack, Jr. officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
