MILLARD VANHOOSE
1883-1973
Rev. Millard VanHoose, a Freewill Baptist minister for over 50 years died
Sunday, September 16, at the age of 90, at his home at Wittensville.
The son of the late Life and Freelove Bryant VanHoose, he was a retired
merchant and member of the Chandlersville Masonic Lodge 858 F & AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Walker VanHoose. Surviving are a
son, Hershell VanHoose of Nippa, two daughters, Mrs. Carma Burchett and Mrs.
Alka Burchett, both of Wittensville, 10 grandchildren, 17 great
grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 18, at the Mouth of Rush
Freewill Baptist Church with Reverends Norman Roberts and Ellis Hamilton
officiating.
Freewill Baptist ministers served as honorary pallbearers while the active
pallbearers were Charles Kenneth VanHoose, M. J. VanHoose, David VanHoose,
Bobby Gene VanHoose, Troy Music, Tommy Preston, William Burchett, and Danny
Joe Daniels.
Graveside rites were conducted by the Chandlersville Masonic Lodge 858 F &
AM.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with arrangements
under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
