Dora Vanover, 84, died Thursday, October 28, in the Pikeville Methodist
Hospital after an extended illness. She was born June 26, 1892, in Magoffin
County, daughter of the late Daniel and Amanda Jenkins Tackett.
 
Mrs. Vanover was a resident of Van Lear and a member of the Freewill Baptist
Church.
 
Her husband, Henry Vanover, preceded her in death on April 16, 1971.
 
Surviving are four daughters, Georgia Castle of Pikeville, Jessie Bradley of
Van Lear, Essie Lyons of Paintsville and Juanita Grimm of West Van Lear; a
brother, Allie Benton of California; 11 grandchildren, 29 great
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
 
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 31, in the Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel with Reverends James Kelly Caudill and Scott Castle officiating.
 
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-
Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
