 ALEX VAUGHAN SR.
1895-1968

 
Mr. Alex Vaughan, Sr., 73, died Friday, January 19, 8:10 a.m. in the
Paintsville Clinic, after an illness of four days. A retired brick mason, he
was born in Floyd County on January 6, 1895, the son of A. M. and Mollie
Campbell Vaughan.
 
A lifelong resident of Paintsville he was a member of Chapter 381 Masonic
Lodge.
 
Survivors include his wife, Ressie Swoard Vaughan, whom he married on August
29, 1923, at Catlettsburg; one son, Alex Vaughan, Jr., of Flatwoods; one
sister, Mrs. Mary Lou Sloan of Ashland and two grandchildren. Also surviving
are three brothers, and two sisters, W. H. Vaughan of Cincinnati, OH, Glen
Vaughan of Ashland, Walter Vaughan of Miami, FL, Mrs. Jack Kouns of Cocoa
Beach, FL, and Mrs. Sally Jackson of Ashland.
 
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 21 in the chapel of the Preston
Funeral Home with the Rev. James Wallace officiating.
 
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
 
Active pallbearers were Morris Conley, James H. Conley, Irvin Spradlin, Paul
Porter, Escom Chandler, Frelan
