GYPSIE WALLEN
1889-1974
Gypsie Wallen, 84, succumbed to a lengthy illness at her River home on May
28. Born December 18, 1889, Mrs. Wallen was the daughter of the late R. H.
and Srilda Fannin Murry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wallen on June 19, 1952.
Mrs. Wallen is survived by five sons, Ervin and Virgil, of Williamsport,
Floyd of Tutor Key, Melvin of Xenia, OH, and Ballard of Catlettsburg, eight
daughters, Edith VanHoose of Wilmington, OH, Faye Wallen of Ashland and
Mearl Wallen, Dorothy Daniel, Betty Stapleton, Olgia Clay, Garnett Wiley and
May Price, all of River, 33 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one
great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wallen were held Thursday, May 30, in the River
United Baptist church where she was a member. Reverends Charles Price and
Buell Ferguson officiated.
Burial was in the Wallen Cemetery at River with arrangements under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
