William (Bill) Wallen, 88, of river died on Monday, June 19 at his home
following an illness of seven months. He was a retired miner. He was the son
of the late Robert and Anna Bryant Wallen.
 
Immediate survivors include his wife, Gypsie Murry Wallen, five sons, Irvin
Wallen and Virgil Wallen, both of Williamsport, Floyd Wallen of Tutor Key,
Ballard Wallen and Melvin Wallen, both of Xenia, OH, eight daughters, Mrs.
Garnett Wiley, Mrs. Betty Stapleton, Mrs. Mae Price, Mrs. Olgia Clay, Mrs.
Dortha Daniel, and Mrs. Mearl Wallen, all of River, Mrs. Edith VanHoose of
Wilmington, OH, and Miss Fay Wallen of Ashland.
 
Funeral services were conducted by C. J. Sparks and Charles Price on
Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at the River United Baptist church.
 
Burial followed in the Wallen Cemetery at River under direction of the
Preston Funeral Home.
