BENNIE WARD
1898-1976
Bennie Ward, 78, died Tuesday, November 23, in St. Mary’s Hospital in
Huntington, WV after an extended illness.
He was born May 1, 1898, in Johnson County, a son of Hollis and Nola Davis
Ward. Mr. Ward was a resident of Paintsville, a retired miner and a member
of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Lou Ellen Reed Ward; two sons, Cecil Prater of
Geneva, NY, and Jack Ward of Columbus, four daughters, Kathy Lorraine Ward
and Betty Gartin, both of Paintsville, Anna Tackett of Loveland, OH, and
Mary Conley of West Van Lear, a sister, Lorinza Ward of Cincinnati, OH; 11
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, in the Baker Branch Freewill
Baptist Church with Rev. Irvin Castle officiating.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Tutor Key with Jones-Preston Funeral
Home handling arrangements.
