BELKNAP WELLS
1902-1978
Van Lear resident, Belknap Wells, 76, died Tuesday, August 15. Born January
22, 1902, in Martin County, he was the son of Merion and Alice Burke Wells,
and was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Bowens Wells, three sons, Belknap Wells,
Jr., of Price, Howard Wells, Cincinnati, OH, and Jesse Morris, Lexington, a
daughter, Lucille Coleman of Regina, three brothers, Ivory Wells,
Paintsville, Kermit Wells, Meally, and Clifford Wells, Van Lear; and four
sisters, Laura Mollette, Ypsilanti, MI, Hattie Wells, Garnetta Rucker, and
Imogene Sammons, all of Van Lear.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 17, in the Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel with Bennie Blankenship officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-Preston
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
