CURTIS WELLS

Curtis Wells, 65, died Thursday, February 12, in Highlands Regional Medical
Center after an extended illness.
 
He was the son of the late Marion and Alice Burke Wells, and was born June
4, 1910 in Johnson County. A resident of Van Lear, he was a retired miner
and a member of the Church of Christ.
 
Surviving are his wife, Verna Phipps Wells; two sons, Morris and Thomas
Roger, both of Van Lear; four brothers, Ivory of Paintsville, Kermit of
Meally and Clifford and Belknap, both of Van Lear; four sisters, Lora
Mollette of Ypsilanti, MI, Hattie Wells, Carnetta Rucker and Imogene
Sammons, all of Van Lear and two grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 15, in the Van Lear Church of
Christ with Rev. Mitchell Salyers officiating.
 
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-
Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
