DENVER WELLS
1922-1992
Retired miner, Denver Wells, 70, died Sunday, July 5 at his Van Lear
residence. Mr. Wells was born January 1, 1922 in Johnson County, the son of
Joe David and Lillie Mae Webb Wells. He was a veteran of World War II,
serving with the U. S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Sparks Wells; three sons, Billy Ray Wells of
Thelma, Denver Lee Wells of Concord and Charles Edward Wells of Wabash, IN;
one daughter, Linda Stapleton of Tutor Key; five brothers, Joe, Jr., Herbert
and Everett Wells, all of Van Lear, Charles Wells of Rush and George Wells
of Defiance, OH; two sisters, Geraldine Cassady of Lexington and Josephine
Cassady of Dayton, OH; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, in Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel with Joey Scott and Bennie Blankenship officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
