Susan Martin Wells Age 39, of Paintsville, died Tuesday, Sep.16,1997
at Highlands Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of Richard E. Martin and Nancy Vaughn Martin, of
Prestonsburg, and was born Nov.08,1957, in Prestonsburg.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prestonsburg.
She was assistant to the president at Highlands Regional Medical
Center; administrator of Consolidated Health System's Scholarship
Fund; chairman of the advisory board for the Southeast Area Health
Education Center; a member of the American College of Health Care
Executives; director of the Kentucky Chapter of the American Diabetes
Association; a member of P.E.O.; and a graduate of the Leadership
Kentucky program. A member of the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce,
Wells previously served on the Chamber's Board of Directors. She was
inducted into the Chamber's Hall of Fame in May. Wells was a graduate
of Prestonsburg High School and transylvania University where she
received a bachelor's degree in Biology. She was awarded a master's
degree in Public Health Administration from the University of South
Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Frank A.
Wells Jr. of Prestonsburg; a daughter, Kathryn Ann Wells of
Paintsville; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Martin of Union.
Funeral services will be con- ducted at 11 a.m. today, Friday, at the
First Baptist Church in Prestonsburg.
Burial will be made in Highlands Memorial Park in Paintsville under
the direction of the Carter Funeral Home
