Robert "Bob" Clay Wheeler, 83, of Salyersville, died Friday, Jan. 15, in
Okeechobee, Fla.
 
Born April 19, 1926, at Ashland, he was the son of the late Lafayette Marion
and Erie Rice Wheeler. He was a pipe fitter with Local 521 of Huntington, a
member of the Magoffin County Chapter DAV, American Legion of Ashland, Third
Marine Organization, and the China Marine Association, and a U.S. World War
II Marine veteran.
 
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne Wheeler, Marshall
Wheeler, Paul Wheeler, and L.M. Wheeler; and a sister, Mable Arnett.
 
Survivors include his wife, Zelma Conley Wheeler of Salyersville; a son,
Robert Wayne Wheeler of Frankfort; two daughters, Norma Jean McCarty of
Citra, Fla., and Connie Rose Rice of Hager Hill; three step-daughters,
Sheila Huff and Charlotte Green, both of Salyersville, and Cheryl Salyer of
Royalton; a step-son, Darren Rudd of Salyersville; a brother, Francis
Wheeler of Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Jospehine Cabbe of Lady Lake, Fla.;
13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Salyersville
Funeral Home, with Justin Williams officiating.
 
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Salyersville Funeral Home, Salyersville.
