TROY W. WHEELER
1936-1963
Troy W. Wheeler, 27, insurance agent of Louisa, died Saturday,
November 30, in King's Daughters' Hospital, Ashland of internal
injuries received earlier in a one- car accident in Catlettsburg.
Catlettsburg police reported the 1961 automobile struck a utility
pole at 15th and Center Streets near the intersection of Useless
Road with U.S. 23-60.
A native of Johnson Couty, he was born April 12, 1936, the son of
Troy Wheeler of this city and the late Emma Daniels Wheeler.
A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he was a graduate of Morehead State
College and president of the 1962 senior class. He was active in
campus affairs and was a Kentucky Colonel. An agent of the
Commonwealth Life Insurance Company, he had lived in Louisa for the
past two years and had formerly been employed by the company in
Ashland.
He was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Van Hoose of Tutor, Key.
Survivors also include his wife, Mrs. Kathleen Van Hoose Wheeler;
one son, David, and one daughter, Donna, both at home; a sister,
Gayle Wheeler of Thealka.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 p.m., Monday at the Mouth
of Rush Freewell Baptist Church with C. C. Hall as officiating
minister.
Active pallbearers were Ben T. Spradlin, Ernest Thompson, "Hap"
York, J. D. Crabtree, Bob Van Hoose, Bernard Nelson, Clyde Phelps
and Gary North.
