Morton Wiley, 64, retired railroader of West Van Lear, died Sunday, October
1, in Central Baptist, Lexington, after an illness of fifteen years.
 
The son of Ham Wiley and Mandy Brown Wiley, he was born at River August 20,
1897, and had lived at West Van Lear for the past eight years. He was a
member of the United Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
 
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carma Murray Wiley; four sons, Melvin Wiley,
Dayton, Ohio; Morton Wiley, Jr., Lebanon, O.; Joe Wiley, West Van Lear; J.
B. Wiley, Fort Lee, Va.; three daughters, Edith Chandler, Charley; Anna Lee
Martin, Lexington; Eleanor Salyer, Rising Sun, Ind.; a brother, Merida (Bud)
Wiley, City; a sister, Ella Spears, Hager Hill. Also surviving are ten
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., today from the Cedar Grove
United Baptist Church at West Van Lear with Nim Sturgill, Herman Davis, and
Elzie Banks as officiating ministers.
 
Burial was in the Murray Cemetery at White House.
