Pistol Wounds Fatal
To Chester Wyatt
Funeral Held Today
Coroner Jim Trimble said Tuesday that an inquest will be held soon
in the death of Chester A. Wyatt, Jr., who died of gunshot wounds
about 2:30 Monday morning at his home in the Sitka vicinity.
Trimble said he reached the home about 3:30 a.m. and found the
victim lying on the floor in his room. He had bullet wounds in the
head, and a .38 caliber pistol was near the body.
Mr. Wyatt was prominent businessman and had operated a fleet of
coal trucks since 1946.
He was born September 3, 1909, a son of the late Chester A. Wyatt
and Bula Mahan Wyatt of Sitka. He was born at Thealka in this
county, but had been a resident of Sitka for 26 years. He was
married to Miss Dorothy Sublett in this city on August 14, 1937.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are one sister, Mrs. Ruby
Spears of Seco, KY, three nephews and three nieces.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. today by the Rev. Spurgeon
Honeycutt at the home.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at Sitka.
