SAMUEL MONROE YATES

Samuel Monroe Yates, 58, died at his home on West Main Street at
11:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, following a brief illness.
The son of the late Lee and Amanda Hawkins Yates, he was born in West
Virginia May 19, 1903.
A former miner and farmer, he had lived in this city for the past
eight years.
Surviving are three sons, Calvin Yates, U. S. Army, Japan; Ravin
Yates, U. S. Army, Canal Zone; Jerry Yates, California; five
daughters, Mrs. Georgia Deming and Margaret Yates, both of this city;
Mary Yates, Catlettsburg, Mrs. Mandie Adkins, Huntington, W. Va.;
Mrs. Marcia Thompson, Torrence, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Viola Antoni,
Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Jeff Yates, Oak Hill, W. Va.; Jess
Yates, Detroit, Michigan.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday from the chapel
of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home with Cline Salyer as
officiating minister.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
