COLUMBUS GREEN
1883-1974
Columbus Green succumbed to an extended illness in a Prestonsburg nursing
home last Wednesday, October 2, at the age of 90.
Born in Morgan County on December 25, 1883, he was a retired farmer, a
resident of West Van Lear, a member of the United Baptist Church and the
son of the late Jim and Lou Craft Green.
His wife, Bertha Green preceded him in death in May 21, 1968. Surviving
are three sons, Charlie of Lowmansville, Tillman of Taylor, MI, and
Willie of West Van Lear, five brothers, Paris Green of Huntington, WV,
Arthur Green of Catlettsburg, Harry Green of Coal Grove, OH, Malcolm
Green of Arizona and Milton Green of Holden, WV; a sister, Bessie Moore
of Wheelersburg, OH; 35 grandchildren, and 61 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Green were held Saturday, October 5, in the
Cedar Grove United Baptist Church at West Van Lear with Reverends Lonza
Reed, Arnold Reed and James Blair officiating.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Chandlersville with arrangements
under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
