Age 86, of Carrollton, born May 18, 1922, passed away peacefully, with Hospice by her side, on January 2, 2009 at Altercare of Nobles Pond in Jackson Twp., where she had resided for the past eleven months due to a stroke and fractured neck. The former Katherine Domenick had lived most of her adult life in Carrollton after marrying Doyle M. Cable on August 14, 1954. Doyle was the love of her life and the two of them literally danced through life together until his death on June 9, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents, August (Sakowsky) and Frank Domenick, Sr. as well as her first husband, Russ Cochran, who was tragically taken from her at a young age while serving his country in World War II. Her union with Russ was short but blessed her with a daughter, Donna (Gary) Ralston of Dellroy; a granddaughter, Cathleen (Jeffery) Reed; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Tucker, and Tanner Reed, all from Dellroy. She and Doyle were blessed with one daughter and one son, Kathy (Dennis) Ray of Canton, and Jon (Barb) Cable of Canton; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Ray of Phoenix, Arizona, and Aimee Ray of Canton. She also is survived by her brother, Frank (Helga) Domenick, Jr. of Los Angeles, California; and two sisters, Virginia Levengood of Tucson, Arizona and Irene Collins of Apache Junction, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. From co-workers at TRW, from where she retired, to neighbors and fellow dancers from Eagles and Elks around the area, Katherine built an amazing network of dear friends. Though many are now elderly and/or scattered about the country, they never lost touch with each other. This unbroken bond is a true testament to the vibrant personality and huge heart Katherine possessed. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, January 9, 2009 at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Her daughter, Kathy Ray, and Pastor Andrew Riggs from Trinity Lutheran Church will be presiding over the services. Katherine's final resting place with be appropriately beside Doyle at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton. Everyone is welcome to attend a wake immediately following the burial. Refreshments will be served in the lower level of Trinity Lutheran Church located at 275 N. Lisbon St. in Carrollton.
