Benjamin Y. HAFER, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs Richard ZERBY, 1361 Locust street, aged 80 years. He was a son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Yerger) HAFER. Death followed a long illness. He was a former resident of Center township, but moved to this city four years ago. He was a member of the Reformed denomination of Belleman's Chuch, Center township. His wife, Mary (KERSCHNER), preceded him in death. Charles H. HAFER, 67, of 124 Jefferson St, Hyde Park, died last night in the St Joseph's Hospital where he was taken after he was stricken with a heart attack in his home. He died shortly after admission to the hospital.
A native of Center Township, HAFER was a son of the late Benjamin Y. and Mary (Kerschner) HAFER. He was employed as a draftsman for P.F. Eisenbrown Sons Company, local monument firm, for 50 years, and resided in Hyde Park the past 37 years. He was a member of Grace (Alsace) Reformed Church, Centerport Camp, P.O.S. of A., and the Goodwill Fire Company and its beneficial association Hyde Park. Surviving are his widow, Lizzie E. Death entered a Leesport family four times within the last two months. Following her son-in-law, William SHEIDY, of Sinking Spring, R.D. 1 , in death only 24 hours, Elmira (HAFER) widow of John WAYNE, died this morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs William SPEACE, Jr, in Ontelaunee township, near Leesport. She was 82 years old. On Nov 7, Mrs Wayne's brother, Benjamin HAFER, died in Centerport, Nov 21, a brother-in-law, Henry Schell, died in Hyde Park, yesterday the son-in-law, William SHEIDY, and this morning, Mrs. WAYNE.
Death followed an illness of four days. Surviving are six children, James, near Van Reed's Paper MIll, Katie, widow of William SHEIDY, who will be buried on Saturday, Samuel, Ontelaunee township, Annie, wife of Frederick DAUBERT, Reading, Daniel, Stonersville, and Ella, wife of Clarence EYRICH, Erie, Illinois, 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one brother, Samuel HAFER, Centerport, and three sisters, Mary, widow of Henry SCHELL, Reading, Katie, widow of John COLDREN, Riverside, and Anna, widow of William KULP, West Lawn. She was a member of the Reformed congregation of Belleman's Church. Her husband died 29 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Yerger) HAFER.
