"A FARMER WELL KNOWN IN THIS SECTION
William H. Boals, in his seventieth year, died at the family residence at Fairview , Saturday morning, at 8:45 o'clock. He had been in failing health for some little time and his friends appreciated the fact that he could not long survive. Mr. Boals, who was one of the most prominent, successful and widely known farmers of his community, was born in Oakland township, Venango county, Dec. 24, 1841. He attended the public schools of the township and upon reaching uears of maturity at once commenced farming in Venango county. He was married on Jan. 8, 1868 to Miss Frances M. Mallory, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mallory of Cherrytree township. They raised a large family and were held high in the esteem of everyone. He was a man who comanded universal respect in his community and who was greatly beloved in his home. He was the father of twelve children, eight of whom are living as follows: V.D. Boals, Baker's Summit, Pa.; Mrs. William Moore, Oil City; W.G. Boals, Clarksburg; Mrs. E.L. Haight, Mrs. Charles Bowe, Corry; J.C. Boals, Buffalo; Mrs. Frank Sloan, Canton, O.; Miss Louisa Boals, residing at home. There are also three brothers: Samuel Boals of Oakland; G.W. Boals of Plummer; Jonas Boals of Clarion, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Sterling of Plum township.
Funeral services in his remembrance will be held at the Fairview church at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The Rev. Mr. Jordan of Diamond will be the clergyman. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery."
