Charles W. Bowlby of 21 Fairview avenue, died yesterday in the New Jersey Firemen's Home at Boonton at the age of 89.

Mr. Bowlby had been chief of the Dover fire Department in 1902-1903 during Mayor George Pierson's regime. He was an exempt fireman and a member of the Dover
Fire Wardens. For many years Mr. Bowby had conducted the Singer Sewing Machine Co.'s store here. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Marshall Burd of Dover, Mrs. A. Edwin Leatherman of Philadelphia and Miss Hazel H. Bowlby of Dover.
Funeral services will be held Friday at the Tuttle Funeral Home with the Rev. G.A. Stark of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
