Located in the corner of section 10 of Jackson Township.

From Mt. Pleasant go south on 218, take River Road to the east right before the Skunk River Bridge.

The cemetery is located on top of a hill near a sharp curve in the road, next to the decaying farm buildings.

The following sign will be on the right hand side of the road.

Sign says established in 1838. I did find a burial that early.

Last fall we could not find, but the work of the Henry County Pioneer Cemetery Commission, clearing the area, this past winter, has made it visible. Thank you cemetery commission for your hard work. If anyone is interested in assisting them monetarily or any other way I would think they could be reached care of the Henry County Courthouse. I chalked each stone that I found except Fergus Carnahan's.

As you walk up the slope and to your right. There is a big drop off on the south (left) and field before the river.

From the SE corner looking NW.

Chalked stone to the right, no information found on it. Tree stump to the left.

Fergus M Carnahan, died Aug 1, 1838, aged 30ys 3mo & 4ds

John G. Sanderson, died Oct 9 1852, aged 41ys 9m 16 days

Our father, William H. Sellwood, born Jan 20 1853, died Mar 5, 1892

Back of the Sellwood stone says H. R. Jones, Hillsboro Ioa.

I would say they are the foot stones for: John F. Lazenby, Sarah G. Sanderson, and John G. Sanderson

These three foot stones had letters on them.
