1. Daniel GUTSMANN was born on 7 Jun 1849 in Gründorf, Prussia.1 He was born on 7 Jun 1849 in Krogulno, Opole, Poland. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Nebraska, Furnas Co, Medicine Creek Prct, Page 10 ED 16, date June 5, 1880.. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Nebraska, Furnas Co, Medicine Creek prct, ED 65, sheet 14, date June 23. He died on 18 Oct 1913 in Cambridge, Furnas Co, NE..2,3 He was buried in Cambridge NE.2 His reference number is 35. Though Daniels Birth took place in Gruendorf, Oppeln, Prussia, since thefall of the German Empire, what we once knew as Prussia has been dividedamong other countries. The villiage of Gründorf in the county of Oppelnis now Krogulno or Strobertal in the Polish province of Oposkie orOpole. Though the roots are still German we now have to go throughPoland to get to the records of our ancesters.

(personal note) I find the 1880 census to be very sad as just the yrbefore Daniel had a family of 5.
Rosa died just 10 days after having her thirdchild, then Louie in July and giving Edithup for adoption to allow the Allens to raise her.

Announcement - Dan Gutzmann, Sr. met with an accident Wednesday that costhim his life. He was leaving town in a lumber wagon about 12:30 when inthe south part of town his team became unmanageable and he was thrownfrom the wagon alighting on his head. He was picked up in an unconsciouscondition and taken to hospital where he passed away this morning at 6o'clock never regaining consciousness. His skull was badly crushed andhe was otherwise internally injured.
Mr. Gutzman was one of the pioneer settlers of the community. Heleaves a wife and large family of
children.
At the time of going to press arrangements for the funeral were notcomplete, It will probably be held Sunday.

Obituary- Cambridge Clarion Oct 28, 1913:
Daniel Gutzmann was b. June 7th, 1849, at Grundorf, Germany, died atCambridge, Oct 17, 1913. He was confirmed in early youth into theLutheran church of which he has been a life long member. He was aveteran in the German army and served in the war with France. He wasmarried in Germany to Rosa Stodocker in 1873. To this union threechildren were b., two of whom are living. He came to this country andlocated in Cambridge the same year of his marriage. His wife died in1879. in 1885 he was married to Dina Keppels on June 29th. to thisunion 9 children were b., 8 of whom still survive.

Daniel GUTSMANN and Rosalia STADOLKA were married on 28 Feb 1874 in Buchendorf, Oppeln, Prussia. They were married on 28 Feb 1874 in Grabczak, Opole, Poland. Rosalia STADOLKA was born on 23 Aug 1854 in Dammratsch, Prussia. She was born on 23 Aug 1854 in Domaradz, Opole, Poland. She died on 22 Jun 1879 in Cambridge, Furnas Co, NE.. She was also known as Rosa Stodocker. She was buried in Fairveiw Cemetery, Cambridge NE.2 Her reference number is 84. According to our records Rosalia was born in Dammratsch Prussia in thecounty of Oppeln. However, to Dammratsch is known as Domarads orDammfelde in the Polish province of Opolskie or Opole, Poland Daniel GUTSMANN and Rosalia STADOLKA had the following children:

DINA Keppels
Dina Keppels Gutzman was b. in Enchede, Holland, on October 29,1867, anddeparted this life
May 13, 1948, at the home of her daughter, Mary, in Broken Bow at the ageof 80 years, 6 months
and 15 days after a brief illness.
When a young girl, she came with her father, sister and brothers toAmerica, settling in Cleveland,
Ohio, for about a year. The family then moved to Harvard, Nebraska. Shelived there until 1884,
when she was united in marriage to Daniel Gutzman. They made their homeon a farm southeast of
Cambridge, Nebraska.
To this union was b. five sons, Herman and Albert of Cambridge, Nebraska,Frank of Sargent,
Nebraska, Clarence of Burley, Idaho; four daughters, Mrs. Susie Sides ofBurley, Idaho, Mrs. Mary
Thompson of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Mrs. Emma Haumont of Sandpoint, Idaho,Mrs. Rose Taber
of St. Helen, Oregon. Her husband and one son George preceded her indeath.
In 1940 she came to Broken Bow, Nebraska, and made her home with herdaughter Mary Thompson
where she passed away.
Besides her children she leaves to mourn her one step-son, Dan, ofCambridge, 25 grandchildren, 40
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 15, at Schneringer & Johnsonfuneral home with John
McNeill reading the message.
Miss LaVerna Govaerts, Grace Young and Lynn Walker sang accompanied byMiss Ruth Kleeb.
Internment was made in the Cambridge cemetery on Sunday morning.
In the summer of 1918 she heard the gospel and made her choice to servethe Lord, and was true to
that choice until the end came.

Obituary Taken from the Cambridge Clarion, dated: 10 Aug 1906

George, the nine-year old son of Mr and Mrs. Daniel Gutzman, south ofCambridge, died July 29, 1906, of diphtheria after a one day's illness.Three other children of the family, Emma, Rosa, and Clarence have allbeen ill with diphtheria and scarlet fever, but are all convalescingagain.
