| Broughton Soldier Dies of Korean Battle Wounds |

| Pvt. Marion D. Faries, pictured above,
died May 19 in Korea as the result of wounds received
earlier that day in battle. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Faries of Broughton, received the word of his death May 28 in a telegram from the Defense Department. Pvt. Faries, 23, had been on the front lines only a few days. He was Broughton's first casualty of, the Korean war. |
