Luther Newton Cotter

Uncle "Luke" was a real nice man. He married Mary Williams from Walpole and lived in Eldorado most of his married life. I recall that Luke was one of the best shots with a rifle that I ever saw. You could toss up bottle caps, coins, small rocks, etc., in the air and he could hit them with a rifle shot while the items were moving in the air. It would be difficult for me to hit them with a shot gun and he could do it with a rifle! He went into the service and thought that he would be in combat right away. Instead, when the Navy found out what a crack shot he was, they had him work as gunnery instructor at Great Lakes most of his time in the Navy. Luther was killed in an automobile accident in 1969.
