In memory of Anton West.

Anton West was born at Hassen-castle, Germany, Christmas Day, Dec. 26,
1845 and departed this life May 1, 1931, aged 85 years, 4 months, 4
days.

He came to the Unites States in 1865. In 1871 he was united in marriage
with Janie Shumate of Linn Creek who preceded him in death 11 years

To this union were born 11 children, 9 of whom are living. They are:
Mrs. Edna Burch of Sleeper, MO., Mrs. Jessie Snyder, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs.
Della Cloves, Buckner, MO., Mrs. Anna Wallace, Linn Creek, Mrs. Myrtle
Franklin, Richland, MO; Mrs. Vernia Bangert, California, MO. Mrs. Mary
Larue, Elmira, Idaho.

He is survived by 45 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren also.

He has remained a faithful Christian, a friend to the needy and always
had a word of comfort and cheer for the sick and sorrowing. He tried to
follow the footsteps of the Savior, on whose birthday he was born. He
loved little children and won many little hearts with his ready
sympathy for their childish hurts and sorrows. Few who became
acquainted with him have ever forgotten "Uncle Andy" as he was known to
them.

He was a wonderful father, always patient and kind.

Through the last weeks of his life when he becamed bedfast, he was
always considerate of those who cared for him and ever thoughtful for
their well being.

His going has left a vacant place in our home which will be felt
throughout the years to come. He always enjoyed being in the service of
his Master and was a faithful worker in Sunday school for more than 40
years.

While our hearts are lonely and home isn't the same without him, we
would not bring him back for we know he is at rest and his sufferings
are over.

A short time before his death he talked of that "Beautiful City" and we
knew he was ready to go. He had said many times that he was ready to go
and was in the Lord's hands.

So while we miss him we know if we live a life like his we will meet
again.

Interment at Zion cemetery, Saturday, May 2, six of his grandsons being
pall-bearers.

Sometimes when the day is ended

And the duties of day are done
I'll watch at the western window.

The glow of the setting sun
When the day is vexed with trials

And I cannot see my way through
Then I think of that "Beautiful City"

That lieth not far from view
Then I think of the beauties of Heaven

What splendor I there shall behold
When I reach the portals of heaven

And view the City of Gold
There will fall on my restless spirit

A calm, oh so wonderful sweet
And I shall cross over the river

To rest at my Savior's feet.

Mrs. Marvin West
