Individual note:   Bought Hovland from his father Gunnar Jakobsen for 250
riksdaler, deeded it to his son Jakob Torsen.
Was one of the countries best known captains in the last half
of the 1700s. Worked himself very carefully to a large
business. Built several large boats in his own warf. 1757 he
sailed "Haapet" (Hope), 1759 "Maria", "Tvende Br�dre" (Twin
Brothers), "Emanuel". All built at Tangen warf. One man that
helped was Oline Kristen.
Tor gave his property Meum to his son Lars, and moved to Tangen
in 1775. Sons and son-in-law Ola Olsen sailed the boats when
Tor quit.
Was for a while very wealthy, lent a lot of money for part in
their property. Owned also a farm named "Landerard" . In Tor
Tangen's time the family was high in society.
