John Anderson Family & Descendents

At present I have only one main line of Anderson's, stemming from John Anderson and wife Susannah. I have not identified his parents to date. According to a Petition for land in Ontario in 1819, John was born in Pennsylvania.

LAND PETITION - OATH OF ALLEGIANCE:
"I certify, that John Anderson born in Pennsylvania States now of West Flamborough - 19 years in the Province Yeoman, hath taken and subscribed the Oath of Allegiance as required by Law, before me, at York, in the Home District, this ninth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen."

ESTIMATE OF JOHN ANDERSON'S AGE:
Using probable John Anderson cem. transcript, in West Flamborough Presbyterian Cemetery - Christie Corners:, #110 In memory of John Anderson who departed this life Oct. 2, 1840 aged 65 yrs 11 m 13 d. (means b. Nov. 18, 1774.)John had his 1st son in 1800 and if we assume he married at say 20 years old, this would make him born approx. 1779. The above stone may be for our John. However until his parents are located we will leave his birth date estimate as b. abt 1774-80

IMMIGRATION TO ONTARIO FROM PENNSYLVANIA - In 1800:
John entered Canada from Pennsylvania with his wife Susannah and new born son Henry (b. Apr. 24, 1800). Since Henry is born in PA in April, then John would have immigrated to Ontario from PA, somtime after April 24, 1800.

SETTLED IN WENTWORTH COUNTY, ONTARIO:
John initially bought Lot 13 Con. 5 East Flamborough Twp. but later settled on Lot 24 Con. 2 West Flamborough Twp., Wentworth County, Ontario. John died Oct. 29, 1840.

SERVICE IN WAR OF 1812:
According to John's Land Petition, he fought with the British in the war of 1812. "That your petitioner has behaved himself as a soldier and a faithful subject to his Majesty during the late war with the U.States and he has never obtained any lands or grant of Lands whatsoever under the Crown"
