There is a section that is fenced in, indicating that it may be a family
plot but it is unknown at this time who is buried there |
*** - From Ron & Joan Henriksson - The correct spelling is Henriksson not Hendrickson
Thank you very much for the information update.
*** - Some interesting notes from Julie (Hogan) Bell about the Ware Cemetery which was located on her parents property....
Did you know that there was a school on the spot where my parent's house is now? I heard that when the school was there, some kids went in and wreaked havoc - tipped over graves etc., so it could account for some missing grave sites. There are some spots that look like a grave, but there is no marker as well. It really is a rumour though. I know some people who could verify it I think.
There probably is one grave that you didn't find. We found it as kids - it is a bit out of the way - quite buried. It is a very unique grave - made of metal. Perhaps I can persuade my mom to take a picture of it. Would you like me to ask her? You might remember that I told you that there was a marker removed from the cemetery behind my parents’ house. Well my dad went to the guy’s house and had him fish it out of his garage and so it is here now. I’ve attached a picture. (This is the Theodore Luoma Marker above) .
There is a section that is fenced in, indicating that it may be a family plot but it is unknown at this time who is buried there." My mom remembers that some people came in and took away the old stones, tore down the old fence and built a new fence. They said that they were coming back with new stones, but never did. Kangas (last name as my dad calls him) removed the marker with plans to make a better one, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet.
One other little detail. (I'm not sure if you interested in this level of detail - but just in case.) When I was a kid my babysitter was "Mrs. Burke". Her father-in-law and brothers-in-law were buried in the Ware/Gorham cemetery. You'll remember that that cemetery is like a trail in the forest. She said that they were buried at the beginning of the trail on the right in unmarked graves. I'll let you know if my mom finds "the secret grave". . . .
