Monday March
27, 1939 they are wrecking some old Buildings at the Marine
Ways that have seen Steam Boat building and River Craft in days of real
Activity. The old Saw Mill rebuilt from the old Walton Mill of West
Elizabeth. I have seen this the fourth time Burned twice to
the ground then the joiner Mill and Pump Shop where many
Steam Boat Cabins and Outfits were framed and thousands of Pumps were
fabricated when each piece of coal towing equipment required two pumps
in each piece from 8 to 12 ft in length built of clear poplar. I am
sorry to see these Land Marks go but it is the new Order of the
times very few of the old Mechanics are left the
newer ones have little conception of those years
