Steamer MONGAH above Emsworth Lock, built 1937 at Neville Island

Steamer MONGAH

This photo is from the collection of Dennis Griffith, his father Bill had his first job as an oiler on this boat

JW writes in his journal that on January 23, 1938 he looks over the new boat MOHGAH.  He also mentions that on January 13, 1941 the MONGAH partially burns while at the Marine Ways.

Dan Lynch paints the name on the MONGAH, probably late 1937 or early 1938

The photo above is from the collection of Tetta Lynch Hall and shows her father, Dan Lynch, at the Elizabeth Marine Ways painting the name on the MONGAH.

The two photos below are from the collection of Captain Robert Eberhart, he had them labeled as Mongah 1937. They are obviously of the interior of the Pilot House and the date written and the appearance of the Pilot House seem to indicate these photos show the "new" MONGAH's Pilot House.  I have been told that the individual shown is Robert Eberhart who may have been the first Captain of the MONGAH.
