Various entries 1904 to 1919 

Steamer Fred Wilson boilers exploded May 29th, 1904 at Louisville Kentucky, left her a total wreck, killed <eleven ?> of her crew including Capt. Price, many of her crew injured, sunk her in 18 ft. of water.

On Monday October the 24th 1904, George J. Wiegel our Foreman went to the river bridge to take some measurements for wiring and was electrocuted by high tension wires. I had hardly missed him when Miss Eagan called down from the office, he was killed. Buried Wednesday afternoon in Elizabeth Cemetery, a very large funeral.

The Steamer Alice owned by Rogers Sand Company exploded her boilers Saturday morning at 6:20 a.m. August 30th, 1913 killing nine men, two of these from Elizabeth - Perry Rabins firemen age 55 and Cyrus Gilmore aged 30, deck hand. This happened at Dam No. 2 Ohio River, Captain Tom Flathery was killed.

The first flying machine I saw flew down the river Friday October the 9 th, 1914, past the ways at 2:05 P.M., disappeared around Bell Bridge Bend in just two minutes.

A trip of 18 coal cars got away on the incline at the United Mine, Friday afternoon July 30th, 1915, killed seven men out right, two others died shortly after, about 18 injured some pretty bad. Superintendent Sam Daugherty was killed, age 42.
