JW knew two different boats named CRUISER, both of these boats visited the Elizabeth Marine Ways numerous times and both are mentioned in the journals. The first CRUISER was built in 1890 and first visited the Ways in 1907, she was a steel hulled boat. The second CRUISER was built in 1923 at the Elizabeth Marine Ways under the direction of JW. |
Read about the first CRUISER visiting the Ways twice during 1907, February 1907 and April 1907, she was an all steel boat. She also had repair work on March 26, 1910. In the middle photo the boat in front of the CRUISER is the DAVE WOOD. |
This Steamer CRUISER was the last wooden towboat built at the Elizabeth Marine Ways, read about this boat during January 1923 and also Page 1923 . The two photos above show the Steamer CRUISER at the Elizabeth Marine Ways while still under construction. Pump Boat 80 is mentioned as being at the EMW on January 29, 1923 for general repairs. The photo above right shows Pump Boat #80 with the Steamer Crusier still under construction, as shown by the entry of February 16, 1923. This photo was probably taken during February 1923 when both these boats were at EMW. |
