The SPRAGUE was in Pittsburgh during the Winter of 1903 for major alterations. JW played a small role in that he "worked out" a jackstaff for her, a flagpole. Ways Towboat Directory writes that the JOSEPH B. WILLIAMS was the "daddy of 'em all in the coal towing business until the SPRAGUE was built."
