Gilbert J. Black , son of father (of George) Black and Unknown, was born in May 1820 in PA.

IGI 30 Sep 1993 Gilbert Black married Susannah Kline 18 May 1842 Tuscawaras Co., IL. sumitted LDS ordinances, Batch 7130501 Source Call #538999 Film, Sheet 87.

In administration of the estate, received from rent includes P. Baker of PA; real estate taxes paid; D. W. Black mentioned as a heir; also made a payment to a J. D. Black but no relationship shown.

            Brice H. Black b 1894 married Carrie V. In 1930 census he is a traveling salesman for an oil stove company. Child:

3.  Clara Black was born in 1855 in OH, died on 19 Jan 1931 in Hopedale, Tazewell Co., IL and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL. Another name for Clara was Carrie Black.

Clara married William Yeazel on 28 Jan 1892 in McLean Co., IL. (William Yeazel was born on 12 May 1849, died on 21 Aug 1923 and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL.)

4. Mary Black was born about 1857. She married Daniel W. Floyd, born about 1857. Children:

5. Cora Black born abt 1859 married Wm. T. Ireland. Child:

            Bertha Ireland Simpson VanDrelzen dies at 102.

Mrs. Bertha Van Drelzen, 102, 500 NE Madison, Apt. A-3, died at 5:45 a.m. today at her home. Born Dec 18, 1881, in Hopedale, she was a daughter of William and Cora Black Ireland. She first married Ralph Simpson. She then married Leslie Van Drelzen, July 3, 1926 in Peoria. He died May 1955 in Peoria. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Myers and Mrs. Edmond (Bernadine) Smith, both of Peoria; and one son, James Simpson of Peoria.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, with the rosary recited there at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.

7. Nettie Black was born on 6 Jun 1863 in OH, died on 19 Nov 1950 and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL.

Nettie married Christian W. Hawk. (Christian W. Hawk was born on 8 Oct 1862, died on 23 Nov 1932 and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL.)

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Hawk, 87, who died at St. Francis hospital in Peoria Sunday at 10:30 p.m. were held Wednesday, November 22, at 2 p.m. in the Davis mortuary; Rev. Arthur S. Chapman, pastor of the Hopedale Methodist church officiated. Mrs. E. F. Paine, organist, played comforting music.

The pallbearers were : Arthur Rich, Orville Augsburger, Jesse Augsburger, Dan Litwiller, Robert Anderson, and Henry Weihmeir.

Burial was made in Orendorff cemetery. Hopedale Rebekah Lodge was in charge of graveside rites. Mrs. Hawks was a charge member of Sionilis Rebekah of Hopedale.

Mrs. Hawk was born in Sandyville, Ohio, on June 6, 1863, a daughter of Gilbert and Sussanna Klein Black. She married C. W. Hawk at Hopedale in 1904 and he preceded her in death. Four sister and two brothers also are deceased.

Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Bertha Van Drelzen and Mrs. Lenora Hopper, both of Peoria.

8. Bertha Martha Black was born in May 1866 in OH, died on 16 Aug 1939 in Peoria Co., IL and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL.

Bertha married Henry F. LOWE. (Henry F. LOWE was born in 1868, died in Dec 1950 in Peoria Co., IL and was buried in Orndorff Cem., Hopedale Twp., Tazewell Co., IL.)

Death of Mrs. Henry Lowe Last Wednesday

After an illness of several weeks Mrs. Bertha Lowe died at 5 p.m. onb Wednesday of last week at the Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She had been in failing health for several months.

Miss Bertha Black was born Feb. 18, 1867, at Sandyville, Ohio, the daughter of Gilbert and Susanah Cline Black. She was married to Henry Lowe at Hopedale on June 22, 1902 who with a daughter, Mrs. Lenora Hopper of Peoria survives. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Nettie Hawk of Hopedale, and a niece Mrs. Bertha Van Drelzen of Peoria.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Hopedale Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. David N. Hasbrook, pastor of the Tremont Methodist church, in charge, assisted by Rev. E. R. McBroom.

The hymns were sung by Misses Alice McBride and Emma Hussman. The pallbearers were C. R. Paine, V. L. Coggins, Eddie Meyers, R. N. Roelofson, O. H. Augsburger and R. F. Maurer. Burial was in Orendorf cemetery.
