Robert Mathis Jean was born in Walton County, Georgia in 1825 to John and Alcy Jean.

He is first enumerated in the 1850 Heard County, Georgia census with his wife and one daughter.  He is then found in the Columbia County, Arkansas census in 1860.  He purchased 80 acres of land on September 1, 1860 in the Champagnolle area of Columbia County.

By 1870, Robert and his family had relocated to Little River County, Arkansas, along with his oldest brother, Daniel.  He died in 1885 in Little River County and is buried in Peytonville Cemetery.

Although Robert had no male children, he was known as Robert, Sr.  This is probably due to the fact that his brother, Daniel, had a son with the exact same name, Robert Mathis Jean, and they lived in the same community.

I have very little information on Robert's descendants at this time, however, what I do have follows.  If anyone reading this page has anything more about this family, please do not hesitate to share the information with me.

1. ROBERT MATHIS² JEAN (JOHN¹) was born May 10, 1825 in Georgia, and died March 05, 1885 in Little River County, Arkansas. He married SARAH LAVINIA UNKNOWN before 1846. She was born May 18, 1828 in Georgia, and died December 05, 1891 in Little River County, Arkansas.

i. MAHALA C.³ JEAN, b. 1846, Heard County, Georgia.

2. ii. TEXAS LAVINIA JEAN, b. August 13, 1851, Alabama; d. November 16, 1900.

iii. NANCY CAROLINE JEAN, b. 1855; m. WILLIAM F. HUFSTUTTER, 1882, Little River County, Arkansas - Book B, page 142; b. 1853, Texas.

iv. MARTHA E. JEAN, b. December 26, 1861, Alabama; d. April 09, 1891, Little River County, Arkansas; m. JAMES W. GILL, 1882, Little River County, AR - Book B, page 193; b. November 26, 1850; d. April 04, 1891, Little River County, Arkansas.

2. TEXAS LAVINIA³ JEAN (ROBERT MATHIS², JOHN¹) was born August 13, 1851 in Alabama, and died November 16, 1900. She married VIRGIL A. WALKER 1869. He was born 1849 in Mississippi.

Notes for VIRGIL A. WALKER:  Virgil bought 120 acres of land in Little River County, Arkansas on March 10, 1883.

3. LAVINIA SARAH⁴ WALKER (TEXAS LAVINIA³ JEAN, ROBERT MATHIS², JOHN¹) was born December 1869 in Arkansas. She married URIAH SIMEON ANDERSON.

Children of LAVINIA WALKER and URIAH ANDERSON are:

i. THOMAS URIAH⁵ ANDERSON.

ii. LULA F. ANDERSON, b. April 22, 1890; d. September 20, 1890, Little River County, Arkansas.

iii. IRENE ANDERSON, b. July 19, 1891; d. December 09, 1891, Little River County, Arkansas.
