John and Ann Memorial

John Memorial The John Nichols Family Society has erected a memorial to John and Ann Nichols at the Pioneer Park, Botany Cemetery in Sydney. On the 22nd of August 1993 150 descendants and friends of John and Ann gathered at the park for the unveiling and dedication ceremony.




The inscription reads :-

Sacred to the memory of
John Nichols (Nicholds)
Arrived First Fleet 26th January 1788
Departed this life 24th December 1822
aged 67 years
And his wife
Ann (Nee Pugh)
Arrived 1801
Departed this life 10th July 1849
Aged 75 Years
Erected by John Nichols Family Society
And Fellowship of First Fleeters
22-8-1993

Welcome Wall

The John Nichols Family Society registered an inscription with the Australian Maritime Museum, which was added to the Welcome Wall, Darling Harbour, Sydney. The "Unveiling Ceremony" took place on Sunday 23rd January 2000. "NICHOLS John, PUGH Ann and family" can be found on Panel No. 018, Column No.1, Line No.075, Regist. No. 4438. The photos of the Welcome Wall were supplied by Barbara Coleman.
