        1.  John Chancey7 Jordan  (Charles6, John5, Charles4, John3, John2, Richard1) was born Bet. 1760 - 1770 in Wake Co., NC, and died January 7, 1832 in Lincoln Co., GA.  He married (1) Rhody Sorrell January 8, 1789 in Wake Co.,  NC.  She was born Bet. 1760 - 1770 in NC.  He married (2) Sarah Strother December 4, 1823 in Lincoln Co., GA by Wych Jackson.  She died Aft. 1832.

   March 1790  p. 33.  CHANCY JORDAN having been charged with being the Reputed father of a base Begotten Child on the body of Sarah Pollard who came into Court and entered into Bond Agreeable to Law with William White and CHARLES JORDAN his Securities in the sum of L250.

(The 1790 Census does not record a CHARLES JORDAN in Wake Co. so he was either living in another household or in another county.  Pollards lived in the same section with the widow MARGARET JORDAN whose husband CHARLES died in 1790.)

JORDAN was to be overseer of the road from the cross road at Cummings field to William Thorns and the following hands are to work on the said road under him...Benjamin Bains, Edmund Roberts, JONATHAN JORDAN, Issac Smith, Darling Bradley, John Roberts, Jacob Wheeler, and George Pleasants. (JONATHAN was born in 1780, son of JOHN and SARAH, and is mentioned in that JOHN'S 1799 Will.  Note the name Darling, and Steve Martonak's theory that JAMES D. JORDAN was JAMES DARING JORDAN.  Note also that Dennis Bradley was security for PEGGY JORDAN in 1790 when CHARLES died, and that often securities were close friends or close relatives.  Did CHARLES and PEGG name a son JAMES DARLING JORDAN for Darling Bradley?)

   Whereas John C Jordan late of The County of Lincoln County afsd has departed this life on the 7th of January Eighteen Hundred and thirty two, Intestate and leaving considerable property, real and personal, also a Widow and Eight Children or representatives by a former wife all of which are of full age. Viz: Delilah Leveritt widow of Jordan Leverett late of Lincoln County State afsd, Lydia McGill intermarried with Morris McGill of Lincoln County State afsd, Elvers Jordan of Pike County State afsd, Jacob Jordan of Upson County State afsd, Anne Brazier intermarried with Elijah Brazier of Upson County State afsd, Cynthia Jackson widow of John Jackson of Upson County State afsd, Wylie Jordan of Upson County State afsd, & Charles Jordan of Green County State of Alabama.

   Now Know Ye that we Sarah Jordan widow of the afsd John C Jordan, Delilah Leveritt, Morris McGill in right of his wife Lydia, Elvers Jordan, Jacob Jordan, Elijah W. Brazier in right of his wife Anne, and Trustee or Agent for Charles Jordan & Jacob Jordan for Cynthia Jackson, have Nominated and Apointed Jemmison Mabry of Lincoln County State afsd, Richard J. Holliday of Wilkes County afsd & Elvers  Jordan of Pike County State afsd. Esqre to take the afsd Estate into hand Allott of the widow her Dower in the Real Estate, sell the Ballance of land estate, real and personal in such manner and form as they may think most advisable and beneficial for the Heirs and creditors of the same, pay off all lawfull Debts and distribute or pay to all Ligatees their proportionable or lawfull part after the Debts and Expenses of said Estate is settled, and settle and do every thing in the afsd premises as may seem to them lawfull & right, making an award or Inventory of all their proceedings, recording the Original in the Clerk of the Court of Ordinary Office in Lincoln County State afsd with this Commission, and Delivering to each Legatee a copy from the Original, which award Settlement and transaction we and each of us, our heir, & as a every of our heir, Do bind our elves our heirs & in the sum of five thousand Dollar to be paid unto the aforesaid Commissioners as gaurdians of the aforesaid Estate for its general use, Viz, the benefit of all costs or chargs that might accrue in case of suit and for the Ligatees thereof to stand to abide by and fullfill the award or settlemant  and division made by the aforesaid Jamison Mabry, Richard I Holliday & Elvers Jourdan Esq. Commissioners aforesaid.

The Negros property for cash and the balance on a credit until the 25th of Dec. next which date agreeable to the foregoing list and paid out agreeable to the afsd hereafter.

   The above Estate was divided into 8 shares with one to the widow and one to each of the 8 children except Wiley.  His Voucher is below:

JORDAN one tract of land containing one Hundred and twenty three acres at four dollars per acre amounting to four hundred and ninty two dollars, also one negroe girl named Mary valued at three hundred dollars being in the whole seven hundred and ninty two dollars in full payment of my part of his Estate as a legatee.
